چکیده
The functional human metallothionein (MT) genes are located on chromosome 16q13. We have physically mapped the functional human MT locus by isolation and restriction digest mapping of cloned DNA. The mapped region contains all sequences on chromosome 16 that hybridize January 7, 2006 2:28 Proceedings Trim Size: 9in x 6in baldwin

Entrez Gene: gene-centered information at NCBI
Entrez Gene (www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?db=gene) is NCBI's database for gene-specific information. It does not include all known or predicted genes; instead Entrez Gene focuses on the genomes that have been completely sequenced, that have an active research community to contribute gene-specific information, or that are scheduled for intense sequence analysis. The content of Entrez G...
متن کاملEvaluating gene/protein name tagging and mapping for article retrieval
Background: Tagging gene/protein names in text and mapping them to database entries are critical tasks in biological literature mining. Most of the existing tagging and normalization approaches, however, have not been evaluated for practical use in article retrieval towards efficient biocuration. Results: By utilizing literature cross-reference information provided by NCBI Entrez Gene database,...
متن کاملFast parsers for Entrez Gene
NCBI completed the transition of its main genome annotation database from Locuslink to Entrez Gene in Spring 2005. However, to this date few parsers exist for the Entrez Gene annotation file. Owing to the widespread use of Locuslink and the popularity of Perl programming language in bioinformatics, a publicly available high performance Entrez Gene parser in Perl is urgently needed. We present f...

Medical resident physicians used MD on Tap in real time to search for MEDLINE citations relevant to clinical questions using three search engines: Essie, Entrez and Google, in order of performance.
متن کاملbotXminer: mining biomedical literature with a new web-based application
This paper outlines botXminer, a publicly available application to search XML-formatted MEDLINE data in a complete, object-relational schema implemented in Oracle XML DB. An advantage offered by botXminer is that it can generate quantitative results with certain queries that are not feasible through the Entrez-PubMed interface. After retrieving citations associated with user-supplied search ter...
